drupa 2008, DUSSELDORF, May 30, 2008 – Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, has today announced an agreement with Transeo Media, a leading photo book solution provider, to make its Media Album™ software available to its customers. As part of the agreement, Canon’s digital production equipment - including its flagship imagePRESS C7000VP and C1 digital presses - will now be available with the Media Album™ solution enabling Print Service Providers to provide a new, value-add service with the ability to create high-quality, bespoke, themed photo books – including group travel memories, corporate diaries, or wedding albums – to increase their revenues. The software’s downloadable module allows end-users to create multi-page photo albums in minutes, with professional effects, from their own desktop or notebook computer, anywhere in the world. Drag-and-drop techniques make Media Album™ easy to use, with many options including templates, masks, and page sizes to create a professional looking finished product. Once happy with the design, professional photographers, corporate users or consumers can submit jobs via the web by uploading the PDF-files to the print provider’s server. James Gray, Managing Director, Transeo Media said: “We are very excited to partner with Canon to bring in our simple to use and very effective Media Album™ together with Canon’s high-end digital production devices. Our aim is to make it as easy as possible for print service providers to offer another value-add service which will significantly boost their revenues. The software is tailored to the digital environment and the finishing capabilities of each print supplier who chooses to work with us. Options within the end-user application can be added or removed at will, giving full control over the customers’ available choices at design stage – which in turn means that the print professional never receives an order he cannot deliver.” Mark Lawn, European Marketing Manager, Professional Solutions, Strategic Marketing, Canon Europe said: “We recently commissioned research into the future of the print industry and when asked about the source of new revenue streams, 87.2% of the 600 print professionals questioned worldwide named photo books as the biggest opportunity.1 “With rising overheads for energy and other resources, professional printers need to find new ways to increase their revenues. Applications like Media Album cater to the demand for innovative, individualised services that grab customers’ imagination – helping printers to differentiate themselves in a competitive market, which in turn sets them firmly on their path to profit.” To see a demonstration of the Media Album software and the printing of photo books on Canon’s imagePRESS C1, please visit Canon at stand B46, Hall 8A at drupa 2008.
