drupa 2008, DUSSELDORF, May 30, 2008 – Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, today announced it will be showing for the first time its iWPrepress Manager (iwPPM) software integrated with the Helix Production Workflow Suite on the Canon drupa stand in hall 8A. The iwPPM solution, now in the final stages of customer trials, is set for release in the second half of 2008 and will be demonstrated in the Corporate Reprographics Department (CRD) zone on the Canon stand. It will be showcased both as stand-alone software and also run in conjunction with Helix Production Workflow. The new solutions are designed to provide customers with a user friendly and flexible workflow solution to help manage all stages of digital pre-press and print production, from editing of page content, to final imposition and output. Helix Production Workflow builds on the success of NT-ware’s uniFLOW Output Manager (OM) suite in corporate and copy shop environments and will provide an extended feature set and enhanced graphical user interface, designed specifically for CRDs, Print-for-Pay, creative services and commercial print customers. A key focus of the new software is to help print providers automate and streamline the print production process, from job ticketing and web submission by clients, to final printed output on single or multiple devices. The complete PDF-based workflow and graphical user interface will be fully and easily configurable by print providers, allowing for maximum flexibility and convenience. Helix Production Workflow will support intelligent load balancing and colour splitting capabilities across the entire Canon range of print engines. Helix Production Workflow’s 100% compatibility with uniFLOW OM will enable delivery of customer reporting, cost allocation and cost recovery features if required. The software will also be fully JDF-compliant to CIP4 standards, offering potential integration with many other software systems, including CRM, ERP and MIS applications. Antony White, European Marketing Product Manager, Canon Europe, said; “We are very excited by the imminent launches of both the iwPPM and Helix Production Workflow. Both solutions offer a workflow combination that will continue to evolve to meet the exact needs of our production print customers. As further evidence of our commitment to deliver complete, integrated production print solutions, we expect iwPPM and the Helix Production Workflow to complement and support the other solutions in Canon’s Workflow Program.” The iwPPM and Helix Production Workflow suite are expected to be commercially available in Europe exclusively from Canon Business Solutions and authorised dealers, later this year, and will be shown on the Canon Stand in Hall 8A, stand B46 at drupa 2008.
